Airman Brayden Lovan, a 21‑year‑old Security Forces specialist from Greenville, Kentucky, died in an on-duty incident at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Wyoming, when a Sig Sauer M18 pistol discharged and fatally wounded him. Lovan had served with the 90th Security Forces Squadron in support of the base’s missile wing and had joined the service in November 2023, joining his unit in May 2024.
Following his death, Air Force Global Strike Command—comprising roughly 35,000 personnel—immediately suspended all M18 pistol use across its bases and ordered 100% inspections of the weapons while investigations proceed. 5 million above-ground pools recalled after deaths reported in 6 states

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), working with Health Canada and manufacturers Bestway, Intex, Coleman, and Polygroup, issued a voluntary recall on July 21, 2025, covering approximately 5 to 5.2 million above‑ground pools sold in the U.S. and Canada since 2002—around 5 million in the U.S. (plus~266,000 in Canada).
The recall concerns pools 48 inches or taller that feature external compression straps wrapping around vertical support legs. These straps may inadvertently act as footholds, enabling unsupervised children—typically aged 22 months to 3 years—to climb into the pools and drown.
Nine child fatalities occurred across six states—California, Texas, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Missouri—between 2007 and 2022.
Consumers are urged to stop use immediately, obtain a free repair kit from the manufacturer to replace the strap with a rope, and cut and remove the compression strap after installation. Until fixed, pools should be drained or securely blocked to prevent access.

Ford recalls over 289,000 vehicles in US for rearview camera issues

Ford issued two separate recalls on April 23, 2025, affecting a total of approximately 289,618 U.S. vehicles due to backup‑camera failures. GM recalls nearly 600,000 vehicles over risk of engine failure

General Motors is voluntarily recalling 597,630 full-size trucks and SUVs in the U.S., including 2021–2024 Cadillac Escalade/Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe; and GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, Yukon XL models equipped with the 6.2‑litre (L87) V8 gasoline engine. Flaws in the connecting rod and/or crankshaft components—linked to manufacturing inconsistencies—may result in engine damage or sudden engine failure, potentially causing loss of propulsion and raising crash risk.
GM estimates only about 3% (≈ 18,000 units) of the recalled vehicles contain the defect. Drivers may notice warning signs such as engine knocking or banging sounds, illuminated check engine light, rough shifting, hesitation, or reduced performance.
Starting June 9, 2025, GM will mail owner notification letters. Affected dealers will inspect vehicles free of charge and either repair or replace engines as needed. Vehicles passing inspection will receive upgraded oil (higher viscosity), new oil filter, new cap, and an owner’s manual insert—all at no cost.

Nearly 180,000 Safety 1st Grow & Go Sprint convertible car seats have been recalled due to a potential choking hazard from loose foam in the head‑restraint pad. Specifically affected models are CC321GYU, CC321GYUD, CC321GYY, CC321GYYD, CC321HAO, and CC321HAR.
